Poppy is a resilient young dog who narrowly escaped a high-intake shelter in Southern California and is now searching for the loving forever home she deserves.

Estimated to be between 1 and 3 years old, Poppy was listed by the shelter as a shepherd mix, while Apple Photos suggests she may be a Carolina Dog. Whatever her breed, one thing is certain—she’s an amazing companion.

Poppy loves going for walks, hiking, and playing fetch, but her favorite place is right by her people. She adores the older children in her foster home and thrives on spending time with her family.

She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and highly motivated by both treats and affection, making her a joy to train. Poppy genuinely wants to please and is always excited to learn something new.

While she hasn’t had extensive exposure to other dogs in foster care, she’s done well with every dog she’s met so far.
